The sheriff is helped by friends, family, staff, and particularly his daughter in solving and investigating mysterious cases. Longmire’s friend Henry Standing Bear, a man from Cheyenne background, provides a great deal of information and help with the cases and also helps in dealing with the countryside police as the Indian reservation has its tribal police force.

As the series goes on the sheriff and his friends deal with gambling on the casino reservation, issues of fighting conflicting jurisdictional and legal authority for the protection of the people, and punishing the criminals. There are also other issues of native, aboriginal American life.

The drama has been rated very high and a lot of people have praised it for its dialogues, scene sequence, visuals, storyline, selection of cast, music, direction, and choreography. The series also became the highest grosser on the A&W network.

There have been two seasons of the series on the A&W Network as the network declared that it won’t renew the series. Therefore, Warner Horizon Television offered it to other networks and Netflix grabbed the opportunity. The fourth season was launched in 2014. The sixth season was the final season launched in November 2017.
