Hell of Wheels revolves around the Union Pacific Railroad and the life around it. The series depicts the lives of the laborers, mercenaries, soldiers, prostitutes, surveyors, and other ordinary people who lived and worked and then passed away in the portable camps referred to as the Hell of Wheels, that followed rail heading across the Plains in North America.

The story is very captivating and succeeds in capturing the viewers’ attention. The plot centers on the story of Cullen Bohannon, played by Anson Mount, who is a former soldier and joins the railroad to trace down the army men from Union who murdered his wife and son.

His family was killed by the Union soldiers as the American Civil War was going on. In this process he finds himself working as a foreman and then the head of all engineers at the railroad project.

Production And Development

The drama series was created and produced by two great American producers and TV personalities Joe Gayton and Tony Gayton. The series was developed by Endemol B.V., a Dutch media company. However, in the year 2012, the creators were no longer involved in the production, and AMC writer John Wirth took over as showrunner.
